The Santa Fe Art Institute is honored to present internationally acclaimed musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson. Anderson will be performing her latest piece Burning Leaves: A Retrospective of Song and Stories and offering a workshop and Q&A Session as part of a fundraiser for the Santa Fe Art Institute.

On June 4th, incredible Latin Dancer and Teacher, Carlos Mora, will show the film El Duque de la Bachata and give a brief history and demonstration of the Bachata dance form and we will close out the evening with a Latin Dance Party at the SFAI!

El Duque de la Bachata is a documentary film about Joan Soriano, a Bachata
Musician from the Dominican Republic, as he struggles to reach his goal of a hit CD
and success as a musician. It is also the story of his large extended family living in
the rural countryside of Monte Plata near Santo Domingo. They dream along with
him, hoping that his success will improve their economic situation and quality of
life.

Please join us on Thursday, May 21st for our monthly Open Studio! The residency program is completely full this month, and we have an incredible wealth of talent to share with you at Open Studio! We will start with a few short readings, then we will do a brief guided tour of the visual artists’ studios and give you a chance to talk with each of the artists and writers after. Refreshments will be served and admission is FREE!
